Guilty plea in Sauk Rapids murder case

FOLEY -- The man accused of murdering Sheila Chrast, and their unborn baby, pleaded guilty today (Thursday) in Benton County court.
County Attorney Robert Raupp says Nathan Hubert plead guilty to 2nd degree murder for killing Chrast, and to 3rd degree murder for killing the baby.
She was found beaten to death in her Sauk Rapids apartment on Mother's Day of last year. The coroner's report says Chrast was hit multiple times on her head and body with a hammer, and had multiple rib fractures, a ruptured spleen and liver injuries.
According to the criminal complaint, a bloody hammer and screwdriver were found inside the apartment and blood was smeared on the walls. Blood stains were also found in Hubert's bathroom and wet clothes in his garage.
The two had a previous relationship.
The State will be asking that he get 42-years behind bars.
Sentencing is scheduled for August 22nd.
