Ed Maier

Tell us a litte bit about yourself and your family.
Married, wife Helen, six adult children
Grew up on a farm in Benton County
Lived at the present address for 38 years
Sauk Rapids-Rice High School graduate.  Two years at St. Cloud State.  Instructor in the U.S. Army.

What experience do you have that prepares you for public office?
Currently serving on the Benton County Park Board.  Have served on the Board of Adjustment for nine years (dealing with land use) -- last five as chair.  Also Board of Equalization, and Court Facility Building Committee.  Served 15 years on the Sauk Rapids-Rice School Board.  Owner of a small business -- Maier Typewriter Service.  Active in Sacred Heart Church as a lector and an usher.

Why did you decide to run for this office?
I have been blessed in my life and feel public service is a way to give back to the community.

Top three issues you would tackle, if elected.
1).  Make our county government more efficient.  Being in the office machine repair business I have observed many different office models.  Also my knowledge of office supplies should help lower that large expense.
2).  Increase jobs with industrial and commercial development.
3).  Work to lower wages for county commisioners.
