Twins, Tigers argue over bean balls
by The Associated Press

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Twins and Tigers are squabbling over alleged bean balls.

Twins catcher Joe Mauer nearly got hit by two pitches from Armando Galarraga in the opening game of the teams' three-game series in Minneapolis. Mauer says he's convinced Galarraga was trying to hit him.

On the other hand, Tigers manager Jim Leyland says he thinks Twins pitcher Glen Perkins deliberately threw a pitch at Carlos Guillen's (GEE'-ehnz) head.

Perkins apologized, saying the pitch was a sinker that got away from him.

The series is tied at a game apiece after the Twins won 6-4 last night.

The final game is today at 1:10.
