Twins even series with Tigers
by The Associated Press

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Twins got a big win, beating the Tigers 6-4 a night after losing the opening game of their three-game series at the Dome.

Craig Monroe got the big hit for Minnesota, a three-run homer off Nate Robertson. The Twins put a halt to Detroit's six-game winning streak and have now won 12 of their last 14 games.

Scott Baker won his third straight game, allowing three earned runs in six innings. Relievers Brian Bass and Dennys Reyes (DEN'-iss RAY'-iss) limited Detroit to one run in two innings before Joe Nathan earned his 23rd save with a perfect ninth.

Today, The Twins send Nick Blackburn and his 6-4 record to the mound against the Tigers' Eddie Boninem, who's 2-0. First pitch at 1:10.
