WJON Sports


The Twins held off the Tigers to win the 2nd game of the 3-game series 6-4 at the Metrodome Tuesday night.  Minnesota scored 3 runs in the 4th inning before adding 3 more runs in the 5th inning.  Craig Monroe hit a 3-run homerun in the 4th inning and Alexi Casilla and Justin Morneau each added 3 hits.  Casilla scored 1 run and drove 1 in and Morneau scored 1 run.  Scott Baker threw 6 innings with 7 hits and 3 earned runs allowed to get the win and improve to 5-2.  Joe Nathan threw the 9th inning to grab his 23th save.  The Twins improve to 46-38 and remain 2 1/2 games back of the White Sox for first place in the American League Central.  The Twins host Detroit again today in the final game of the 3-game set at 12:10, pregame on WJON at 11:40.  Righthander Nick Blackburn (6-4) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and righthander Eddie Bonine (2-0) goes the rubber for the Tigers.
