Vikings waive Wright, trim roster to camp-max 80
by The Associated Press
EDEN PRAIRIE -- The Minnesota Vikings have waived rookie quarterback Kyle Wright to get their roster down to the 80-player maximum ahead of training camp.
Wright had little chance of making the team with Tarvaris (tuh-VAR'-iss) Jackson, Gus Frerotte (fuhr-AHT'), Brooks Bollinger and rookie John David Booty ahead of him on the depth chart.
The NFL previously allowed teams to have more than 80 players in camp, using exemptions for those who participated in the spring developmental league in Europe, which has been shut down.
