WJON Sports


The Twins finished the series with the Tigers with a 7-0 shutout win Wednesday afternoon at the Metrodome.  Nick Blackburn combined with 2 relievers on the 5-hit shutout.  Blackburn allowed 3 hits and 1 walk in 7 inning to get the win and improve to 7-4.  Joe Mauer led the Twins at the plate going 2-4 with a run scored and 2 RBIs and both Delmon Young and Carlos Gomez added 3 hits and a run scored for Minnesota.  The Twins improve to 47-38 and remain 2 1/2 games back of the White Sox for first place in the American League Central.  The Twins are off today and will host Cleveland Friday night beginning a 3-game series at 6:10, pregame on WJON at 5:40.  Righthander Livan Hernandez (8-5) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and righthander Paul Byrd (3-9) toes the rubber for the Indians.
