Woman dies after vehicle plunges into washed out road

AUSTIN -- A 25-year-old woman has died after a vehicle she was in fell into a washed out section of a county road west of Austin.

KSTP-TV reported Monday that family members identified the victim as Kelly Jo Abrego, who was a mother of three. The Austin Daily Herald says Abrego was from Myrtle.

Two weeks ago, a rural Albert Lea man was killed when his vehicle became submerged in water when the road section washed away.

In the latest incident, police say it appears a vehicle carrying six people avoided warning signs and fell into the sinkhole Sunday. Abrego died a day later from injuries she suffered in the accident. The driver of another vehicle responding to the accident also fell in the hole.
